Tansian University has officially released its pioneer Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) graduates into professional practice!

The maiden induction and oath-taking ceremony held yesterday at the University Auditorium, Oba Campus, with the theme:

“Building a Professional Legacy in Nursing: The Journey Begins”

Highlights from the Historic Day

  • 100+ pioneer nursing graduates sworn in by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
  • Emotional one-minute silence observed for late Pioneer HOD, Prof. Pauline Ezenduka and student Anya Obinna
  • Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eugene Nwadialor charged them: “Never forget where you came from. Market Tansian wherever you go!”
  • Keynote Speaker Dr. Chika Chioma Harrieta Odira told the inductees: “Your legacy starts TODAY. Every patient you touch, every decision you make, every post you share online – that is how you build your name in nursing.”
  • NMCN Registrar (represented by Stella Godswill) warned: “Treat every patient like your own family. Examination malpractice is a serious offence. Be responsible on social media.”
  • HOD Nursing Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Chukwudi Afam Ndu reminded them: “This oath is not just ceremony – it is a lifelong binding pledge to put patients first.”

Awards & Recognition

  • Best Graduating Student gave a powerful speech: “Today is not the end, but the beginning of what the world has been waiting for – and we are ready!”
  • 3 students received departmental awards
  • 9 got NUNSA National awards
  • 7 honoured for exceptional service
  • Top 20 graduating students specially recognised

Dignitaries present included the Chancellor Rev. Fr. Prof. E.S.C Obiorah, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Elilis Idemobi, Deputy VC Prof. Bonaventure Anetoh and Dean Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Felix Arene.

Pioneer Class Rep, Nnaji Chinecherem Deborah promised:

“We will carry the Tansian identity with pride and be excellent ambassadors everywhere we go.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2025 – the journey has only just begun!
