₦150,000 Monthly Stipends: Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Announces Targeted Application Stream for NJFP Fellowship

Abuja, Nigeria – February 20, 2026 – In a strategic move to bolster Nigeria’s healthcare workforce, particularly in underserved areas, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has opened a targeted application pathway in collaboration with the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP). This initiative invites qualified registered nurses and midwives to apply for 12-month paid clinical fellowships focused on enhancing Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (RMNCH) services in Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) and General Hospitals nationwide.

The NJFP, a flagship Federal Government of Nigeria programme funded by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to bridge the gap between education and employment for young graduates. Now in its ongoing 2026 cohort phase—with applications actively accepted through the official portal—the programme provides fellows with structured placements, mentorship, professional development, and a monthly stipend of ₦150,000.

This NMCN-targeted call prioritizes licensed nurses and midwives to address critical gaps in maternal and child health delivery, aligning with national priorities for healthcare strengthening in rural and underserved communities.

Key Programme Benefits:

  • 12-month paid placement in public health facilities
  • Monthly stipend of ₦150,000, fully funded by the programme
  • Hands-on clinical experience in RMNCH-focused settings
  • Opportunities for professional growth, skill enhancement, and contribution to national health goals

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Nursing/Midwifery, with graduation not earlier than 2022
  • Be 30 years of age or younger at the time of application
  • Have successfully completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or possess a valid Certificate of Exemption
  • Possess valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN)
  • Be registered and licensed with the NMCN as a Nurse or Midwife
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to healthcare service delivery and national development

Application Process: Interested candidates must complete both steps to be considered under this targeted stream:

  1. Submit a full application via the official NJFP portal at:

https://portal.njfp.ng/registration/. The portal remains active and processes applications in multiple stages, including personal details, academic background, NYSC verification, and profile setup. 2. Following NJFP submission, provide details to the NMCN through the designated channel for the targeted call (NJFP – NMCN Targeted Call Applicants). Applicants should refer to official NMCN communications, the council’s website (nmcn.gov.ng), or verified announcements for the precise submission method or form.

The general NJFP application window is ongoing, with placements matched based on skills, location preferences, and host organization needs. This healthcare-focused stream underscores the programme’s emphasis on high-impact sectors amid efforts to improve RMNCH outcomes across Nigeria.

Eligible nurses and midwives are encouraged to apply promptly, as opportunities are competitive and subject to availability. For the most current details and updates:
