Driving Nursing Excellence in Oyo State, Nigeria: Dr. Omokehinde Oyebode

Dr. Omokehinde Oyebode, Director of Nursing Services in Oyo State, Nigeria, is a trailblazer in upholding high standards for nursing education. In 2025, she led the closure of unaccredited nursing institutions, including one in Ibadan, to ensure quality training for future nurses (Oyo State Ministry of Health, 2025). Beyond regulation, Dr. Oyebode promotes best practices, such as exclusive breastfeeding, to improve infant health outcomes. Her leadership inspires nursing excellence across Nigeria, making her a role model for aspiring nurses.

Advancing Maternal Health in Kisumu, Kenya: Ronald Achoki

In Kisumu, Chief Registered Nurse Ronald Achoki has transformed maternal healthcare through the Linda Mama program, providing free maternity services in public health facilities. His dedication has removed financial barriers, ensuring expectant mothers receive expert care during pregnancy and childbirth. According to the Kisumu County Health Report (2024), Ronald’s efforts have significantly reduced maternal mortality rates, making him a cornerstone of maternal health in Kenya.

Innovating Nursing Education in South Africa: Thandiwe Mokoena

Thandiwe Mokoena, a nurse educator in Johannesburg, is revolutionizing nursing training by integrating technology into classrooms and clinical settings. Her innovative approach enhances student engagement and prepares nurses for South Africa’s dynamic healthcare landscape. Thandiwe also prioritizes mental health support for nursing students, addressing burnout and fostering a sustainable workforce.

Leading Pediatric Care in Nigeria: Aisha Bello

In Abuja, Nurse Aisha Bello specializes in pediatric oncology, delivering expert medical care and psychosocial support to children battling cancer. Her holistic approach nurtures both the physical and emotional well-being of her young patients, exemplifying compassionate care in specialized nursing.

Championing Emergency Care in Ghana: Kwame Mensah

Kwame Mensah, a seasoned emergency and trauma nurse in Accra, Ghana, is renowned for his quick thinking and life-saving leadership in critical situations. Beyond his clinical expertise, Kwame mentors young male nurses, encouraging them to break stereotypes and thrive in the profession. His work is reshaping perceptions of nursing in Ghana.
