Breaking Update: Ogun State Authorities Seal Elshadai Clinic Over Nursing Quackery Allegations

Following Fellow Nurses Africa publications of the alleged illegal training and “graduation” of unqualified auxiliary nurses at Elshadai Clinic (also known as Ore Ofe Elshaddai Clinic) in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, swift action has been taken.

On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, the Department of Nursing Services, in collaboration with the Department of Hospital Services under the Ogun State Ministry of Health, sealed the facility. This move came just a day after viral posts exposed the clinic’s practice of parading untrained individuals as nurses, highlighting the severe risks to patient safety.

A disheartening revelation during the operation: the clinic is reportedly owned by a medical doctor whose wife is a registered nurse. This has sparked questions within the healthcare community about why professionals would engage in practices that undermine their own noble profession and endanger public health—for what appears to be financial gain.

Patients who were on admission at the time have been safely referred to the State Hospital in Ijebu-Ode. Further investigations are ongoing, with promises of additional updates and appropriate legal actions against those responsible.

This development is a positive step toward curbing the menace of quackery in Nigeria’s healthcare sector, which continues to claim lives through incompetence and shortcuts. Kudos to the vigilant nurses and concerned citizens whose reports prompted this rapid response. The fight to protect patients and uphold professional standards must continue.

Are there any more illegal nursing training institutions like Elshadai Clinic in your location? Please report to Fellow Nurses Africa.
