Miva Open University Inducts Dr. (Mrs) Bola Ofi, Dr. Joe Abah, and Others as Professors of Practice at 2025 Matriculation

Abuja, Nigeria – November 16, 2025 – Miva Open University marked a historic milestone during its 2025 Matriculation Ceremony on Saturday, November 15, with the induction of nine distinguished leaders as Professors of Practice, reinforcing its mission to fuse academic rigor with real-world expertise.

The event, held at the university’s Abuja campus and live-streamed to thousands, welcomed over 8,000 new students while celebrating the appointment of trailblazers across nursing, governance, public policy, and enterprise.

Leading the cohort was Dr. (Mrs) Bola Ofi, inducted as Professor of Practice in the Department of Nursing. A towering figure in Nigerian and global healthcare, Dr. Ofi’s recognition honors her decades of resilient, transformative service—from frontline clinical leadership to mentoring the next generation of nurses.

Her nomination, backed by unanimous support from the Miva community, peer institutions, and key stakeholders in the nursing profession, underscores her indelible impact.

“This is a victory for every nurse who serves with purpose,” Dr. Ofi declared, her induction a beacon of excellence for the profession.

  • Dr. Abraham Nwankwo, ex-Director-General of the Debt Management Office, inducted in Economic Governance. His expertise in fiscal policy and debt sustainability will enrich Miva’s economics and finance curriculum.

  • Dr. Linus Okorie, leadership strategist and founder of the Guardians of the Nation International (GOTNI), appointed in Leadership and Enterprise. Known for shaping ethical leaders across Africa, Dr. Okorie brings practical wisdom to Miva’s governance and business programs.

Five additional industry luminaries were also honored in the fields of governance, administration, and enterprise, further solidifying Miva’s faculty with practitioners who have shaped policy, business, and public service at the highest levels.

The ceremony, licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC), highlighted Miva’s flexible, technology-driven model—now empowering students in Abuja, Port Harcourt, and beyond. As new “Miva Stars” donned their matriculation gowns, the university reaffirmed its vision: accessible, world-class education that produces job-ready graduates and visionary leaders.
