The community is reeling after the shocking death of Magdalene Fatu Conteh, a respected police nurse who was found dead in her home at the New Police Barracks, Bo City.

The tragedy, discovered two days ago, has quickly become one of the most disturbing cases reported in the region this month.

Residents grew worried after noticing a strong smell and flies around her apartment in Block E-3, C-Line. When officers entered, they found her body, believed to have been there for over three days.

Early reports indicate she sustained multiple stab wounds, immediately suggesting foul play.

A 16-year-old boy, identified as her grandson and reportedly the last person seen with her, is now in custody and assisting investigators. Police have not yet released a motive, and the investigation remains active.

The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs (Southern Regional Office) has stepped in, offering psychosocial support to the grieving family and confirming it is closely following developments.

Colleagues at the Sierra Leone Police Hospital describe Magdalene as calm, dedicated, and deeply committed to her role in the police medical unit. Her death has sent shockwaves through both the healthcare and law enforcement communities.

Authorities are piecing together the nurse’s final days, collecting forensic evidence, and interviewing key witnesses. Residents are demanding answers as the case raises difficult questions about safety, domestic violence, and the protection of healthcare workers.

As the investigation continues, many are calling for justice to be swift and transparent.

We join her colleagues, family, and the entire Sierra Leonean healthcare community in mourning this devastating loss and calling for a thorough, transparent pursuit of justice.
