BREAKING NEWS: Oyo State Government Shuts Down Unaccredited Ajorosun-Ibadan College of Nursing
Ibadan, Oyo State – The Oyo State Government has ordered the immediate closure of Ajorosun-Ibadan College of Nursing, located at Meridian Bus Stop, Apata, due to its failure to meet regulatory standards, as announced by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, on Tuesday.
The decision follows an urgent inspection prompted by widespread advertisements promoting admissions into the unapproved institution. The college, previously operating as a College of Health Technology, was found to be unlawfully expanding into a College of Nursing without accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
Dr. (Mrs.) Kehinde Oyebode, Director of Nursing Services, and Dr. Samuel Adeyemi, Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) Oyo State Chapter, led the inspection team. They confirmed the institution lacks the necessary facilities and conducive learning environment required for quality nursing education. The NMCN’s Oyo State Chapter also stated it had no knowledge of the school’s existence or activities.
Dr. Oyebode declared at the site: “This school has not been accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. It must immediately cease all activities, including the sale of admission forms and processing of admissions, until proper accreditation and approvals are obtained.”
The Oyo State Government has warned the public to avoid engaging with the institution until it complies with regulatory standards. Further updates are expected as authorities monitor the situation.
