News Report: Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Postpones 2025 Examiners’ Workshop

Abuja, Nigeria – June 25, 2025 – The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has announced the postponement of its highly anticipated 2025 Examiners’ Workshop, originally scheduled for July 14 to August 2, 2025. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the workshop will now take place from July 21 to August 8, 2025, across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. This critical update affects nursing educators, examiners, and stakeholders in nursing education and practice nationwide.

In a letter dated June 20, 2025, signed by Acting Registrar/CEO Ndagi Alhassan, the NMCN expressed regret for any inconvenience caused while reaffirming its commitment to promoting and maintaining excellence in nursing education and practice in Nigeria. The rescheduling aims to ensure seamless participation for all involved in this essential professional development event.

New Workshop Schedule and Venues

The revised schedule for the 2025 Examiners’ Workshop is structured in three batches, with designated venues in each geopolitical zone:

  • Batch I: July 21–25, 2025
    • South West: Ekiti
    • North West: Kano
  • Batch II: July 28–August 1, 2025
    • South East: Ebonyi
    • North East: Gombe
  • Batch III: August 4–8, 2025
    • North Central: Plateau
    • South South: Cross Rivers

The NMCN emphasized that participant registration will continue as planned, aligning with the new dates across all designated centres.

Updated Registration Fees

The Council has outlined a tiered fee structure to encourage early registration and ensure accessibility for nursing professionals:

  • Early Bird (Ends July 6, 2025): ₦100,000.00
  • Late Bird (July 7–20, 2025): ₦120,000.00
  • Onsite Payment (Starts July 21, 2025): ₦200,000.00

Nursing educators and examiners are urged to register early to take advantage of the reduced fees and secure their participation in this vital workshop.

Who Should Attend?

The workshop is designed for key stakeholders in nursing education, including:

  • Directors of Nursing Services
  • Heads of Nursing Departments in Nigerian universities
  • Provosts and Principals of Colleges of Nursing Sciences and Schools of Nursing & Midwifery
  • Coordinators of Post-Basic Nursing Programmes
  • Zonal Officers of the NMCN

The event is also relevant to representatives from federal and state health institutions, university teaching hospitals, private hospitals, and organizations such as the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM).

The Examiners’ Workshop is a cornerstone of the NMCN’s efforts to uphold high standards in nursing education and practice. It equips participants with the latest tools, knowledge, and best practices to ensure the quality of nursing and midwifery examinations across Nigeria. The postponement reflects the Council’s dedication to addressing logistical challenges while maintaining the integrity of this critical training program.

Nursing professionals planning to attend are encouraged to:

  1. Register Early: Secure the Early Bird rate by registering before July 6, 2025.
  2. Confirm Venue: Check the designated centre for your geopolitical zone.
