
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (N&MCN) has officially released the results of the Professional Examination in Midwifery held in March 2026.
In a circular dated 14 March 2026, signed by the Registrar/CEO, Ndaagi Alhassan RN, PhD, FWAPCNM, the council confirmed that the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare approved the publication of the results.

A total of 9,984 candidates were successful, achieving an overall pass rate of 86%. This represents a solid performance across the three categories of midwifery training in Nigeria.
Breakdown of Results
- Post Basic Midwifery — 3,235 candidates passed, recording an impressive 96% pass rate.
- Basic Midwifery — 5,928 candidates passed, with an 83% pass rate.
- Community Midwifery — 821 candidates passed, achieving a 73% pass rate.
The strong showing in Post Basic Midwifery highlights the effectiveness of advanced training programmes in preparing midwives for specialised roles in maternal and newborn care.
Next Steps for Successful Candidates
Heads of nursing and midwifery training institutions have been directed to access institutional results online via the N&MCN portal from Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
Successful candidates should visit mypportal.nmcn.gov.ng to complete online registration and licensing. Full modalities for viewing individual results, registration, and licensing processes will be communicated on or before 17 March 2026.
Registration, including payment of fees, must be finalised within 90 days of the results release to avoid penalties:
- A late registration fee of ₦16,250 per applicant applies after the 90-day window.
- An additional annual penalty of ₦6,562 will be charged for default in licensing.
Any errors in the results should be reported immediately to the Registrar/CEO. The council has stated that no complaints will be entertained after 30 days from the release date.
Upcoming Examination
The next Professional Examination in Midwifery is scheduled to take place from Tuesday 8 September to Friday 11 September 2026.
Institutions are reminded to submit Examination Application Checklist (EAC) statistics to exams@nmcn.gov.ng no later than 30 April 2026. Late submissions will be rejected.
