Twenty-one students from Uasin Gishu County of Kenya have graduated with nursing degrees from Laurea University of Applied Sciences in Finland.
The group completed their studies through the Uasin Gishu Overseas Education Programme.
All 21 graduates have secured work permits and full-time nursing jobs in Finland.
They now hold internationally recognised qualifications in nursing.
The students left Kenya to pursue the programme, facing challenges including a new education system, language differences and cold weather conditions.
Many balanced clinical placements with part-time work to support themselves during studies.
The programme provided scholarships that covered tuition and living costs.
Upon graduation, the nurses joined Finland’s healthcare system, where employers value Kenyan-trained professionals for their discipline and work ethic.
The achievement means the graduates can now support their families back home through remittances.
Community leaders in Uasin Gishu have described the success as a source of pride for the county and Kenya.
The graduates are also seen as ambassadors representing Kenya abroad.
