Fellow Nurses Africa (FNA) is a nurse-led non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering African nurses through education, advocacy, professional development, mentorship, global career advancement, and community health initiatives. We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as our first key hire and help scale our impact across the continent.
Position: Digital Content & Communications Lead
Location: Based at our new head office in Ibadan, Nigeria (Hybrid working arrangement)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reporting To: Founder & CEO
Role Overview
This is a pivotal role driving FNA’s digital media strategy to amplify the voices of African nurses and inspire leadership globally. You will produce high-quality podcasts, video interviews, event coverage, and journalistic content while supporting revenue generation and fundraising.
In this dynamic, resource-constrained startup environment—aligned with international NGO standards—you will multitask effectively, wear many hats, and take on additional responsibilities to support organizational growth.
Added Advantage: Candidates with a nursing background (e.g., Registered Nurse qualification) will be prioritized for enhanced content authenticity.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and edit weekly NurseSpeak Africa podcast and video episodes, including interviews with inspiring nurses and leaders.
- Provide professional video coverage and journalistic reports for nursing events, conferences, job fairs, awards, and health outreaches.
- Create and distribute short-form content (e.g., Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) across platforms.
- Manage social media channels, content calendar, and weekly email newsletters.
- Secure sponsorships for podcasts/videos and create impact reports for fundraising.
- Track analytics and optimize content for engagement and conversions.
- Collaborate with volunteers/partners and handle additional operational tasks as needed.
- Ensure content meets international ethical journalism and inclusivity standards.
Travel: Occasional (10–20%) within Nigeria and Africa for event coverage, with a travel bonus provided.
Requirements
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years in digital content creation, podcast/video production, or journalism (health/non-profit preferred).
- Proven skills in editing (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut), interviewing, storytelling, and social media management.
- Proficiency in tools like Hootsuite, Canva, WordPress, and analytics platforms.
- Ability to multitask, adapt quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for nursing empowerment, health equity, and Universal Health Coverage.
Desirable:
- Master’s degree or certifications in digital journalism/podcast production.
- Experience in global/non-profit communications.
- Nursing or healthcare background.
