BREAKING NEWS: NMCN Releases September 2025 Midwifery Exam Results – 74% Overall Pass Rate!

In a major update for Nigeria’s nursing and midwifery community, the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has officially released the results of the Professional Examination in Midwifery held in September 2025. Approved by the Coordinating Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare, this announcement marks a significant milestone for aspiring midwives across the country, with an impressive overall pass rate of 74%.

The results, detailed in a press release signed by NMCN Registrar/CEO Ndagi Alhassan, RN, FWACPNM, highlight the performance of over 10,000 candidates. Out of the total examined, 7,813 candidates successfully passed, showcasing strong achievements in various midwifery programs. Here’s a breakdown of the key results:

• Post Basic Midwifery: 3,532 successful candidates, achieving a stellar 92% pass rate.
• Basic Midwifery: 2,989 successful candidates, with a 55% pass rate.
• Basic Midwifery (Refresher): 52 successful candidates, representing a 76% pass rate.
• Community Midwifery: 1,240 successful candidates, clocking in at a 71% pass rate.

Heads of nursing training institutions are urged to access the results online starting Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Successful candidates must promptly visit the NMCN Portal at portal.nmcn.gov.ng to apply for registration and licensing. The council emphasizes completing all online formalities, including payment of the registration fee, within 90 days of today’s release date to avoid penalties.

Late registrations will incur a fee of N16,250.00 per applicant after the 90-day window, with an additional N6,500.00 penalty per year for defaults in first licensing. The NMCN has made it clear: no complaints about results will be entertained beyond 30 days from today.

Looking ahead, the next Professional Examination in Midwifery is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, to Friday, March 13, 2026. Institutions are required to submit statistics using the Examination Application Checklist (EAC) to exams@nmcn.gov.ng by December 31, 2025 – late submissions will be outright rejected.
