Her presentation focused on the importance of improving oncology nurses’ understanding of cancer genetics and strengthening the application of genetics knowledge in clinical practice.
The recognition was announced by the Chief Medical Director of FETHI, Prof. Kolawole Ogundipe, who celebrated the nursing director’s achievement and described it as a reflection of her expertise, dedication and commitment to excellence in healthcare.
Bridging the knowledge gap in cancer care
Cancer care is becoming increasingly complex, with advances in genetics and genomics creating new opportunities for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and personalised care.
For oncology nurses, understanding the genetic factors associated with cancer can support better patient education, risk assessment and communication with patients and families.
Mrs Adeniji’s conference presentation therefore placed nursing knowledge at the centre of an increasingly important area of cancer care.
Her recognition at a national oncology nursing gathering also highlights the expanding role of nurses in specialised clinical practice, education and leadership.
FETHI celebrates nursing leadership
FETHI described the award as a significant milestone for both Mrs Adeniji and the institution.
The hospital said her achievement demonstrates the value of continued professional development, scholarship and leadership within the nursing profession.
It also expressed confidence that her recognition would inspire other nurses and healthcare professionals to contribute meaningfully to healthcare through clinical practice, education, research and leadership.
The award adds to Mrs Adeniji’s professional profile as a nursing leader and scholar and underscores the importance of nursing expertise in improving the quality of cancer care in Nigeria.
FETHI congratulated its Director of Nursing on the recognition and wished her continued success in her career and service to humanity.
