Study in the UK for Free: Applications Open for Fully Funded Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships 2026/27

London, 20 March 2026 – Talented professionals from developing Commonwealth countries, including Nigeria, have until 31 March 2026 to apply for fully funded UK Master’s degrees delivered entirely by distance learning, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) has confirmed.

Funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), these prestigious scholarships cover 100% of tuition fees and provide additional study grants where required. They offer a unique opportunity for ambitious individuals to gain advanced qualifications from leading UK universities—without relocating or interrupting their careers.

Who Is This Scholarship For?

The programme is designed for citizens of low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries who are permanently resident in their home country.

  • Innovation and entrepreneurship

  • Population health and health systems
  • Resilience and response to crises

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country (e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, India, Pakistan, Uganda)
  • Be permanently resident in their home country
  • Hold at least a 2:1 honours degree by September 2026 (or demonstrate relevant professional experience)
  • Show strong commitment to contributing to sustainable development
  • Be unable to fund their studies independently

  1. Apply for admission to an eligible Master’s programme at a UK university

  3. Upload required documents:

    • Proof of citizenship (passport or ID)
    • Academic transcripts
    • Two references (focused on academic ability and development impact)
