Trinity University’s Nurses Week 2025 Summit Prepares Student Nurses for a Tech-Savvy, Entrepreneurial Future

Lagos, Nigeria – May 22, 2025 | Trinity University came alive as the Nigerian Universities Nursing Student Association, Trinity Chapter (NUNSA TUC), kicked off Nurses Week 2025 with a forward-thinking Opening Summit. Themed “Future-Ready Nursing: How Next-Gen Nurses Thrive with Tech & Entrepreneurship,” the event highlighted a bold shift in nursing education and professional identity.

Game-Changing Conversations

Opening remarks from Mrs. Animashaun Faosat, Dean of Nursing, and Prof. Clement Kolawole, Vice Chancellor, emphasized the need to equip nurses with skills beyond the bedside—such as digital innovation, leadership, and business.

Keynote speaker Mrs. Aketi Olusola, Director of Nursing Services, Lagos State, inspired students to lead in policy, tech, and entrepreneurship. She emphasized that tomorrow’s nurses must be problem-solvers, not just caregivers.

Dynamic Sessions That Mattered

Students engaged with industry leaders and nurse trailblazers, including:

  • Sarah Kumi – on building a standout professional identity
  • NR Ayodamope Adewale – on entering tech-based nursing roles
  • NR Adirije-E Ezichi – on using content creation to influence and educate
  • Ugwani Perpetua – on launching profitable nurse-led businesses
  • Racheal Oluwadamilola – on navigating international migration for nurses
  • Mrs. Abiola Ayilara – on nurse-led digital innovation and health solutions

Each speaker shared real-world experiences, practical strategies, and success blueprints that resonated deeply with the student audience.

Energy, Engagement, and Empowerment

With lively Q&A segments, interactive moments, and student participation, the summit sparked curiosity and confidence. Many attendees described it as a turning point in how they view their nursing careers.

Honoring Changemakers

All speakers were presented with Appreciation Awards in a heartfelt ceremony led by NUNSA TUC President Julius Anointing, the Vice President, and the Dean of Nursing. The gesture celebrated their mentorship and dedication to developing future nurse leaders.

A Defining Moment

In his closing address, Julius Anointing urged fellow students to embrace boldness, creativity, and leadership:

“This summit was a spark—now it’s time to build. We are the future of nursing in Africa and the world.”
